The Harris County Citizen Corps Community Emergency Response Team practiced its skills at the annual Rodeo Roundup on Saturday, Feb. 9.
According to a Harris County Citizen Corps press release, "Every year, this event attracts hundreds of participants and volunteers. CERT teams from across the state put their training to practice at the 2013 competition held at the Harris County Fire & Sheriffs Training Academy in Humble. Participants were challenged with medical situations, search and rescue operations, fire suppression and hazmat recognition."
"This event showcases the CERT volunteer program that is dedicated to preparing our community for any type of disaster," said Harris County Judge Ed Emmett in the release. "For a decade, Harris County Citizen Corps volunteers have been essential partners and play a crucial role in emergency preparedness and recovery."
