Humble ISD invites community to take school calendar survey

The Humble Independent School District is inviting parents and students to participate in the calendar survey on the school's website.

The school board will consider the results of this survey when approving the 2013-14 calendar during the spring semester, according to a press release.

Draft calendars A and B were developed in compliance with current law. Since the Texas Legislature is now in session, the school start date law may change. The current stipulated start date is Aug. 26. Updates on legislation that will affect the calendar will be posted on the district website.

Humble ISD currently provides 177 days of instruction for students. Teachers work a 187-day contract.

The proposed calendars take into account low attendance days, which affect state funding of school programs.

The Humble ISD will consider beginning the next school year prior to Aug. 26 if the legislature changes the currently-mandated school start date.
