Christmas Parade of Lights set for Dec. 4

The annual Christmas Parade of Lights is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 4 in Humble.

The theme of this year's parade, which is coordinated by the city of Humble Beautification Committee, is An American Christmas. The parade route will begin at the railroad tracks on Main Street and precede east on Main Street to Avenue H, where it will turn left and end.

Parade entries are still being accepted, and the fee is $35. Applications must be received by Monday, Dec. 3.

Floats will be judged in several categories, including: corporate/franchise businesses; professional floats and large businesses; local business, small businesses, employee built floats; adult education; adult community organization; children's community organization; schools; and SSS Orange blossom.

Walking entries will be divided into marching bands, school groups, children's groups and adult groups and will be evaluated as the parade passes the judge's reviewing stand.

Entrants will be considered based on their use of lights and adherence to the event's theme.

Floats and parade groups must meet in the staging area on Main Street from Bender Avenue to the railroad tracks. A secondary area will be on Main Street from the feeder road to Bender Avenue.

All floats, vehicles, trailers and other large moving items need to be in the staging area by 5 p.m., and participants should be there by 5:30 p.m. A parade committee will be at the staging area at 4 p.m. for those who want to drop off floats early.
