December events planned in Jones Park
Events have been scheduled to take place at Jones Park in Humble during December.
The park will host free Tai Chi classes at 8:30 a.m. Wednesdays, Dec. 5-19. Tai Chi is a low-impact martial art that focuses on stretching and breathing. Instructor Doug Ebeling, a third degree Tai Chi Black Belt, will lead the class.
Second Saturday Settlers: Christmas Cheer is set for 1-3 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 8. Park staff and volunteers will join guests at the Redbud Hill Homestead to sample wassail, old-fashioned snacks and games. Participants can also have their picture taken with a St. Nicholas impersonator. The event is free and open to the public.
Local acoustic musicians will perform from 2-4 p.m. during Second Sunday Pickers on Sunday, Dec. 9 in the park's nature center. The jam session will feature country-and-western, bluegrass, folk, rock and roll and blues music. The jam is free and open to the public.
The park will offer free pontoon boat tours all day Saturday, Dec. 15. Participants will tour Spring Creek, and learn about the areas natural history and wildlife. The tours are open to guests ages 8 and older.
Jones Park and Nature Center offers a wide variety of free programs and services to the local community throughout the year. The park and facility is located at 20634 Kenswick Drive, Humble.
