Humble ISD Legislative Committee holds first meeting, seeks members
The Humble Independent School District Legislative Committee is looking for members.
The role of the committee is to plan and take action to ensure that changes to state laws target improving public education. The committee held its first meeting Thursday, Nov. 8. Members of the community gathered to discuss the 83rd legislative session and issues state school may face.
The entire community is invited and encouraged to join the committee. It meets while the state legislature is in session. The next session period takes place from Tuesday, Jan. 8 to Monday, May 27. The following issues are expected to be brought up during the coming legislative sessions: teacher retirement, vouchers, state testing and public school funding.
