Timberwood Middle School enrolls largest number in school history
Timberwood Middle School opened its doors to 1,252 students this year, making it the largest middle school in the Humble Independent School District.
According to a press release, to accommodate increased enrollment, no students were given lockers, a dual-bell schedule has be enacted to reduce hallways congestion, and a fifth lunch period has been created.
School will also start later on Thursdays, at 10 a.m., to give teachers and faculty time to train and plan classes. Students can still come to school at the regular time, but will spend the first few hours there studying and working under supervision.
The increase in enrollment has also lead to a ban on large backpacks. Students are allowed a string backpack for lunches and gym clothes but must keep everything else in a large binder.
