Atascocita releases 2012 football schedule

Atascocita High School released its varsity football schedule for the upcoming season.

Led by coach Dean Colbert, the Eagles went 3-7 overall and 1-5 in District 14-5A last season, failing to make the postseason. This season, the team will look to make some adjustments to try to qualify for the playoffs.

The Eagles begin the 2012 season on the road with a battle against Dobie on Friday, Aug. 31.

Atascocita heads home the following week to face Nimitz on Thursday, Sept. 6. The Eagles hit the road again to square off against Klein on Friday, Sept. 14, followed by another home game against Westfield on Thursday, Sept. 27.  

In October, the team starts on the road with a contest against Spring on Friday, Oct. 5, followed by hosting Klein Oak on Saturday, Oct. 13 and visiting Klein Forest on Friday, Oct. 19.  A home game against Kingwood on Friday, Oct. 26 finishes the month.

The Eagles finish their season with a visit to Dekaney on Friday, Nov. 2, before playing host to Klein Collins on Friday, Nov. 9.

All Thursday and Friday games begin at 7 p.m., while all Saturday contests start at 6 p.m.

Should the Eagles qualify for the postseason, the first round of the 5A Texas state playoffs would begin the weekend of Nov. 16.

Atascocita plays its home games at the 10,200-seat Turner Stadium, located at 1700 Wilson Road, Humble.
