Mercer Arboretum offers volunteer opportunity
Area residents are invited to kick off the fall season with a day of volunteering at Mercer Arboretum.
The Mercer Arboretum and Botanic Gardens, located at 22306 Aldine Westfield Road in Humble, will host a volunteer morning and March Mart planning meeting from 9:30-11:30 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 5.
During the meeting, attendees will learn to join a plant committee and about new plants and old favorites at the arboretum.
The Mercer Society is a group of volunteers who learn, have fun and support Mercer Arboretum. At the Sept. 5 meeting the group will plan out the 2013 calendar year of events, and discuss Mercer's annual fundraising plant sale in March. The group meets on the first Wednesday of each month.
Mercer Arboretum is open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily and is free of charge. The arboretum's gift shop is open from Tuesday to Sunday.
