Tryouts for Humble baseball tournament teams held Aug. 11

The Humble Baseball Association will hold tryouts for tournament teams from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 11 at the Lindsay-Lyons Sports Complex in Humble.

The program is open to all youth ages 5-18 as of April 30, 2013.

Players and parents are reminded that there have been regulation changes regarding bats used in the program. These changes became effective as of Aug. 1, 2012.

For the age-13-and-under teams, the new BPF 1.15 stamp on bats is legal for use, regardless of weight and composition. Bats with the old Little League-approved stamp 2.25 barrel, no composite, under the manufacturer’s name, are no longer legal for use.

For the 14-and-under teams, bats must either be a BPF 1.15-5 bat or a BBCOR bat. The bats stamped BESR-3 are not legal.

For 15-and-under teams, all players and teams must use a NFHS high school legal BBCOR bat.
