Lake Houston Wilderness Park offers variety of outdoor activities
The more than 4,000 acre Lake Wilderness Park in Lake Houston holds a myriad of activities for the community to experience nature.
The park is the only facility in the Houston Parks and Recreation Department that offers overnight camping. Other activities available include hiking, biking, horse trails, and water sports like kayaking and canoeing. The park also has cabins and walk-in campsites for rental.
Nature lovers can hike the trails for photography and bird watching. As it is a heavily forested area, visitors should be aware of several species of snakes on the grounds.
The park is located at 25840 FM 1485, New Caney. Contact 281-354-6881 for more information.
