Deerbrook Mall awards Bear Branch Elementary $10,000

Deerbrook Mall has awarded Bear Branch Elementary $10,000 for participating in its 2011-2012 My School's Cool competition.
Bear Branch won the grand prize; Quest Early College High School won the second-place prize of $3,000; Riverwood Middle School won the third-place prize of $1,500; and Creekwood Middle School, Greentree Elementary, Kingwood Middle, Maplebrook Elementary, Northbelt Elementary, Northeast Christian Academy, Oak Forest Elementary, Pine Forest Elementary, Shadow Forest Elementary and Timbers Elementary each received $500 for participating.
The management team from Deerbrook Mall presented Bear Branch Elementary School with its $10,000 check on May 29. The has designated the funds for a playground to be used by the fourth- and fifth-grade students.
In addition to the check, the school received two bags of books from Barnes & Noble. The students' bags contained children's classics, and the teachers' bags were filled with an Italian cookbook, a gardening guide and other titles, as well as a pound of ground Starbucks coffee.
