New senior community celebrates grand opening
A 180-unit apartment community for seniors ages 55 and up just opened on 16354 Ella Blvd. in Mariposa.
The Mariposa Apartment Homes is already 50 percent leased, but has more one- and two-bedroom units available for seniors with income restrictions. The rent for the apartments starts at $600, and income guidelines must be met by residents.
According to the press release, the financing for the apartments is offered by a program that requires residents to have an income that comes within 30, 50 or 60 percent of the area median income to be able to live in the gated, private community.
This means that a one-person household with 50 percent of the median income could make no more than $23,100 or $27,720 at 60 percent of the median income. A double-income household could make no more than $26,400 at a 50 percent of the median income or $31,680 at 60 percent of the median income.
Financing for this community was arranged by Texas-based developer Stuart Shaw, president of Bonner Carrington LLC, who partnered with financiers from TDHCA, Harris County Housing Finance Corporation, Brock Investment Group and RBC Capital Markets and raised a total of $23.1 million for the project.
The Mariposa Apartment Homes community offers residents a swimming pool, fitness center, business center, community center, movie theater, barbecue grills, picnic areas and more.
