Temple Beth Torah Shabbat to feature Rabbi Shapiro
Rabbi Rami Shapiro will be the featured speaker at Shabbat services on Feb. 17 and Feb. 18 at Temple Beth Torah, located at 320 Shallow Drive, in Humble.
Services begin at 7:15 p.m. Feb. 17 and 10:30 a.m. Feb. 18.
Recognized as a leader in contemporary American Judaism, Shapiro holds a doctorate in religious studies from Union Graduate School. He spent 20 years as a congregational rabbi. He is currently the director at Wisdom House, a center for inter-religious understanding, and is a professor of religious studies at Middle Tennessee State University. He has also written books and newspaper columns.
Rabbi Shapiro's sermon Feb. 17 will be called "Hasidic Wisdom for Daily Life." He will lead a study session Feb. 18 called "The Sacred Art of Loving-kindness." A luncheon will follow.
