Seabrook councilman announces candidacy for 36th Congressional District
Seabrook City Councilman Kim Morrell has officially filed to begin his run for the Republican nomination for the 36th Congressional District.
Morrell filed with the Federal Election Commission on Dec. 15.
The 36th Congressional District is a new district, which includes Chambers, Hardin, Harris, Jasper, Liberty, Newton, Orange, Polk and Tyler counties.
Morrell has served as a conservative Republican city councilman since 2006 and has worked on a number of business, tourism and environmental issues throughout the city of Houston.
Notable projects include rebuilding the residential tax base in Houston, helping communities rebuild from 2010’s Hurricane Ike and campaigning for NASA’s space program.
Morrell will hold a campaign kick-off party on Saturday, Jan. 14 from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m.
The location is yet to be determined.
