Humble residents blamed for dog attack

Humble residents are being sued over claims their dog attacked their next door neighbors’ daughter.

Johanna and Matt Hamilton filed a lawsuit on Aug. 31 in the Harris County District Court against the neighbors of Johanna’s parents, Steven and Kathy Meyer, citing negligence and negligence per se.

The Hamiltons say that on Dec. 21, 2010 Johanna sustained serious injuries while visiting her parents when a neighbor’s dog attacked her. She sustained injuries to her right arm, right hand, shoulder, upper back and the back of her head.

According to the brief, as Johanna approached Kathy Meyer, her mother’s neighbor, to show her wedding pictures, the Meyers' dog ran out of the garage, located on Oak Walk Drive in Humble, and jumped on Johanna, knocking her to the ground.

The suit further alleges that during the attack, Meyer stood idly by until, finally, Johanna’s screams alarmed Matt Hamilton and Steven Meyer, who worked together to pull the dog off of Johanna.

The Hamiltons are seeking damages and court costs. They are being represented in the case by Conroe attorney John Hopkins.
