Lake Houston couple accuses Humble residents of real estate fraud
A couple is suing over claims that Humble residents engaged in fraud when selling them a mobile home in Lake Houston.
Lake Houston residents Daniel and Andrea Gomez filed a lawsuit on Aug. 17 in the Harris County District Court against Humble residents Lucy Mathews, Meredith Jackson and Jeremy Hill, citing violations of the Texas Deceptive Trade Practices Act and fraud.
The Gomez family says that on July 2, 2010, it entered into a contract to purchase the defendants’ mobile home and its lot, located in the 12000 block of N. San Circle in Lake Houston. The suit alleges that the defendants knowingly hid the fact that a security lien, placed on the mobile home from a 1996 installment contract, was still in effect.
According to the brief, the lien holder is trying to foreclose on the home, as Jackson still owes $50,155.13 on the contract.
The plaintiffs are seeking multiple damages, attorney’s fees and court costs. They are being represented in the case by Channelview attorney Michael Gillespie.
