    Just as Summer Creek High School contested its first varsity football game this weekend, the Bulldog marching band also was making its first appearance under the Friday night lights. Pulling students from five campuses last year and three this year has made building community among Summer Creek’s teams and organizations that much more challenging, said band director Michael Holt. “It’s a work in progress,” he said. “You can say that for the band, but I think you can say that for every organization in the school. We’re all waiting to grow.”

    The Kingwood Police Patrol is now under the leadership of one of the youngest captains in Houston Police Department history. Capt. Bryan Bennett talks about a top priority: “I want to find a way that we can give Summerwood residents the level of service they deserve while making sure we aren't taking resources away from Kingwood, which we aren't doing right now.”

    Though the Kingwood Police Patrol substation of the Houston Police Department is a small station, an overtime allotment aims to stretch their patrol power. Adding only hours, and no additional officers, police will patrol Summerwood.

    Growing up in the tiny town of Pender, Neb., Jenna Dhayer excelled at sports, especially basketball. Always a team player, Dhayer has a new position to play. Given her athletic background and years of experience, Dhayer was a slam-dunk choice to become the new executive director of the Lake Houston Family YMCA in Kingwood.
