Anthony J. Morris went 1 for 5 in the Daytona Cubs's 4-3 loss to the Brevard County Manatees on Thursday. Morris graduated from Humble High School.

Morris is a 2005 graduate of Humble High School. He played three seasons (2007 to 2009) at Kansas State earning Big XII Conference pitcher of the year Big XII Conference all-star recognition and first-team college all-American honors as a junior 2009. That season for the Wildcats he went 14-1 on the mound with a 2.09 ERA in 16 starts. Morris logged 116.1 innings on the hill striking out 100 while walking 30. He was drafted by the Washington Nationals in the 4th round (112nd overall) of the 2009 Major League Baseball draft and signed on June 21 2009. Morris posted a record of 5-7 with 3.64 ERA during his first two seasons (2009 and 2010) in the Nationals' system advancing as high as Potomac of the Carolina League (High-A) before being traded prior to the 2011 season to the Chicago Cubs along with two other prospects for pitcher Tom Gorzelanny.
