Pro Baseball: Ryan Paul Berry, Delmarva Shorebirds

Ryan Paul Berry pitched five innings, striking out eight and allowing no earned runs Friday in the Delmarva Shorebirds's 2-1 loss to the Lakewood BlueClaws. Berry graduated from Humble High School.

Berry is a 2006 graduate of Humble High School who college baseball for three seasons at Rice from 2007 to 2009. He was a Conference USA all-star pitcher each year for the Owls. He left Rice after his junior year and was picked by the Baltimore Orioles in the ninth round (266th overall) of the 2009 Major League Baseball draft. In 2010 his first year as a pro Berry went 2-5 with a 3.22 ERA and 106 strikeouts in 117 innings split between Delmarva of the South Atlantic League (single-A) and Frederick of the Carolins League (advanced class-A).
