    Four arrested on assault charges

Four people were hit with assault charges in recent days, one of whom is accused of assaulting a police officer.

    • Kevin R. Harris, 48, was arrested on assault charges at Memorial Hermann Hospital on March 4 after he allegedly cold-cocked a co-worker.

The two employees had been in several verbal altercations, police said, a trend that was brought to the attention of hospital administrators. The workers were told further conflicts would get them fired.

Such an incident occurred last Thursday, after which police said Harris was fired. He allegedly responded by punching Gerlad Chele, 58, on the back of the head.
Officer Thomas Hudson worked the case.

    • Dominic A. Grayson, 31, was arrested on assault charges after he allegedly attacked Erica Hewitt, 31, at Colony of Humble apartments on March 5 at 5:30 p.m.

Police said the former couple began arguing, with Grayson allegedly grabbing Hewitt by the throat with both hands.

Officer Tony Taylor arrived, noted the evidence of the alleged assault, and arrested Grayson.

    • A warrant has been issued for the arrest of John Santoya, 41, on assault charges after he allegedly threw Veronica M. Jones, 27, to the ground and punched her in the face.

The alleged incident between the estranged couple took place at an apartment on Willow Street on Sunday morning, police said. Officer Jeremy Golden arrived after Santoya had fled, police said, and drew up the paperwork for the suspect's arrest.

    • Brianna Jeans, 25, was being admitted to jail on a charge of public intoxication on March 5, when she earned a second charge for allegedly assaulting the officer booking her in.

When being booked into jail, suspects are required to remove, among other items, their belts, said Humble police Lt. Jay Wrobliske.

Once her belt had been removed, Jeans allegedly used it to slap at officer Joseph Culp, which brought the assault charge.
