Stories of the Holocaust in song

This news release comes from Temple Beth Torah in Humble:

The emotions and human experiences of the Holocaust will be expressed through music during a special service at Temple Beth Torah in Humble on Friday, Jan. 8, 7:15 p.m. Scholar and professional tenor Dr. Brian Nedvin will present, "Stories of the Holocaust in Song," a musical narrative that has captivated audiences throughout the country. “Dr. Nedvin engages audiences with his versatile singing style,” said event chairperson Susan Gaile-Bain who first heard Nedvin speak at a Bat Mitzvah she attended. “He has created this entertaining and inspiring musical narrative to honor real life stories of the Holocaust. I know members of our temple, as well as the community, will not only be entertained but will be moved by this unique expression of the Holocaust.”

Nedvin has performed numerous times as a soloist at New York’s Carnegie Hall among may other venues. He received his Doctorate from the University of North Texas and is currently a lecturer at Mississippi State University.

The worship portion of Shabbat services will be abbreviated to give attention to the very unique presentation. “Stories of the Holocaust in Song is a presentation that combines music and narrative to bring the events of the Holocaust home to the audience in a personal and tangible way,” said Temple Beth Torah’s Rabbi Dan Gordon. “No disturbing photos are included and all the music was written during or in response to the events of the Holocaust.”

The presentation is free and open to the public but reservations are necessary due to limited space. Childcare will be provided and a special dessert reception will follow. For more information and to reserve a seat and/or childcare, please leave a message for Gaile-Bain at Temple Beth Torah, 281-446-5611 by January 6th. Temple Beth Torah is located at 320 Shallow Drive in Humble.
