Prudential Gary Greene, Realtors – Champions fundraiser sets new record

Members of the Prudential Gary Greene, Realtors Champions office rose to the challenge of increasing their support for their favorite charity, The Sunshine Kids. The office’s recent Country Fall Fest generated a new high of over $16,500 for their contributions to the nonprofit.

Sharon Teusink, manager of Prudential Gary Greene’s Champions office, said that their efforts surpassed everyone’s expectations. “This was our most successful event ever,” she said. “We are thankful for everyone involved – our agents, their clients and the community in general, without whom none of this could have been possible.”

The eighth annual fundraiser offered crafts, food and live and silent auctions. “We had more events, more activities for children and more entertainment than in previous years,” Teusink said. “We really kicked it up a notch.”

Donations and sponsors’ pledges made it possible to send 100 percent of the raised funds directly to the Sunshine Kids. Mindy Mahaffey, owner of Mulligan’s and More, generously donated her location for the festivities. Other sponsors included Cannon Custom Homes, JP McGinnis of Star Builders, The Brock Group, Northwest Pest Patrol, Kenneth Teusink with Sunbelt Business Brokers, Gibraltar Mortgage, Vanguard Title, Champions School of Real Estate, First American Home Warranty, Houston Chronicle, Houston Community Newspapers, Homes & Land Magazine, and Gard's Quality Printing.

The Sunshine Kids Foundation provides positive group activities and emotional support for young cancer patients. The foundation offers a variety of programs and events, free of charge, for children receiving cancer treatments in hospitals across North America.

“This is a great charity,” said Jennifer Carmichael, event coordinator, “and we are so pleased that our whole office came together to support it. The Sunshine Kids really make a difference in the lives of these children and their families.”
