Student photo contest focuses on nature

Student photographers take note: $1,000 in cash prizes will be awarded in a student photo contest designed to inspire interest in Kingwood’s East End Park.

Photos must be taken inside the park, with a limit of five entries per person. The work will be showcased on EastEndPark.com, which has become “a forum for local nature photographers to exhibit their work,” according to Bob Rehak, a member of the Kingwood Service Association board and parks committee. The site receives close to half a million hits per year, he noted.

Prizes will be given in two age groups: 13 and under and 13 and older full-time students. First place is $250, second place is $100 and three honorable mentions per category will be awarded for $50.

Entry deadline is Jan. 4, and winners will be announced by Feb. 1. Entry forms are available at EastEndPark.com, and should be sent with images to contest@eastendpark.com.
