Book browsing and some holiday music

I’ve never seen an elementary age holiday program disappoint when it comes to putting a smile on most grownup faces. Plan for a special night at Barnes & Noble at Deerbrook Mall Nov. 30, when the Eagle Springs Elementary Choir provides a holiday musical soundtrack to book browsing and storytime. The fun begins at 5 p.m.

While you’re there, you might consider buying a book to donate (consider it a price of admission and investment in other children in the community). The books go to BookBusters, whose members read to children at Memorial Hermann Northeast Hospital and area Title I schools, and then send a book home with each child. Last year, more than 5,000 books were purchased and distributed to kids through the B&N book drive.

And finally, if you’re an educator, don’t forget to come in for a special discount day Dec. 5. You’ll save 25 percent on books and 10 percent on music and movies.
